Comparison of anti-obesity effects of Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba and Atractylodis Rhizoma through literature review

Abstract

|
Objectives : The purpose of this study IS to find out differences between Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba (ARA) and Atractylodis Rhizoma (AR) through a medical literature review, especially focusing on their anti-obesity effects.
Methods : We investigated 11 literature for a comparative study of ARA and AR. And in that data, we searched and compared the origins, characteristics, tastes, ingredients, effects, disease treatment, and taboos of the two herbal medicines, respectively.
Results : Both ARA and AR are highly effective in dring dampness and strengthening the spleen and stomach. ARA has a better effect on augmenting the qi. And AR has a better effect on inducing sweating.
Conclusions : The results show that ARA and AR differ h obesity-related effects. Therefore, it would be more effective to reflect these differences and apply them to obesity treatment according to Korean medical patterns.
